The Horne House - Museum

Herbert Percy Horne (1844-1916), English architect and art historiographer was also a merchant and a patron of the arts.ritratto Horne He fought to prevent the destruction of the historical center of Florence and collected art works and valuable objects in his house on Via dei Benci. At his death he left this property to the City.
The palace, built in 1489 for the Alberti, a rich Florentine family, is one of the most beautiful in downtown Florence. There are works of great artistic museo horne cortile value such as the Saint Stephen Polyptych attributed to Giotto, a Virgin and Child attributed to Simone Martini, and a Madonna by Bernardo Daddi. In the attic we can see the kitchen with kitchenware and tools from the Renaissance, collected by Horne himself.
